While you are here you will definitely enjoy the scenic Northwoods roads that wind around the lakes and under the canopy of the open road. There isn’t anything quite like viewing the fall colors in the Northwoods like riding on your motorcycle. We have compiled some routes for you to enjoy while you are staying with us that feature beautiful sceneries unique to the Northwoods. A few great options for you are the Great Divide National Scenic Byway Motorcycle Tour, Route 107 near Tomahawk and the Lake Superior Circle Tour!
A motorcycling gem in Northern Wisconsin is of course Route 107 in Tomahawk, Wisconsin. This route located along the Wisconsin River will most likely allow you to spot eagles and other wildlife along the way. While cruising along on the route you can cross the veteran’s memorial bridge for a great view of the Wisconsin River or even take a break in downtown Tomahawk for a little shopping in the eclectic shops of Tomahawk. Every year there is a Tomahawk Fall Ride that takes place the second weekend after Labor Day. This event attracts about 35,000 to 50,000 bikers from all over the state and beyond to participate in the special event.
Another memorable motorcycle in fall is the Great Divide National Scenic Byway that takes travelers through the Chequamegon-Nicolet National Forest in northern Wisconsin. This 29-mile route from Hayward to Glidden on State Hwy. 77 is a spectacular drive for nature lovers and bikers alike. The tall pine forest is home to abundant wildlife and gives travelers the opportunity to immerse themselves in Wisconsin’s majestic Northwoods. The National Freshwater Fishing Hall of Fame is another not-to-miss attraction along the way. This is a great opportunity to enjoy the views and put on some miles while seeing spectacular fall colors!
The Lake Superior Circle Trail is certainly an excellent option for bikers to enjoy fall colors while riding right next to the largest great lake, Lake Superior! The fall colors along this route next to Lake Superior usually peak during the last week of September or the first week of October. If you are planning a Fall Ride make sure to pack the necessary clothing and equipment as it can get blustery and chilly at times. You can order a map online free of charge, except for a minimal fee for postage and handling . One of the best stops in Wisconsin is the Bayfield area! This picturesque town located right on the water is a great place to relax after being on the road or enjoying. Maggie’s Restaurant is a great spot with a retro feel to get a bite to eat before taking a stroll through downtown. Another beautiful place along the way to take a stop is the city of Ashland that is nestled at the head of Chequamegon Bay on the south shore of the lake. The charming, close-knit community has a great variety of dining, recreation and attraction options. A great stop for pizza in Ashland is The Alley or the Pizza Pub.
